Using an AIM screen name

In response to Loree’s comment asking what I’m assuming amounts to how to use a new screen name, here’s a bit of conceptualization as to how it generally works.

The AOL Instant Messenger service is a network provided by AOL for instant messaging purposes. You can connect to this network over the Internet by means of and AOL Instant Messenger client, including the official AIM client provided by AOL. Other clients include things such as Adium for Mac OS X and Trillian for Micrsosoft Windows.

Once you have an AIM client, you log in to the AIM network by means of a screen name. This is typically created using the official AIM client, however you can also create an account via the web by means of the referred entry.

Note that you can not “add” a screen name on a computer, however you can save your screen name and optionally password in an AIM client on a computer.

Hope that helps!
