Ubuntu 5.10 PPC LiveCD

I had a pleasant experience with the Ubuntu 5.10 PPC LiveCD, which can be found from the Ubuntu Download page.

I ran it off a CD-RW burn of ubuntu-5.10-live-powerpc.iso on both my PowerBook G4 12″ and my Dual 1 GHz PowerMac G4. It seemed to work just fine on both, though my AirPort Extreme card on my PB was still not detected. What was nice was that I had the ability to download and install additional software into what I assume was a ramdisk, enabling me to run additional software not already included on the disc. The whole experience was nothing short of ideal, sans the lack of AirPort Extreme support.

I’m off to try Kubuntu 5.10 PPC LiveCD next.
